What Makes Our School Unique?

At Cockrill, we have the dream that college is within the grasp of every student. Good academic instruction prepares our students to be successful in middle and high school. We also believe that character education is an important foundation of every child’s education. By emphasizing the traits of respect, responsibility, caring, patience, trustworthiness, courage, self-control and citizenship we will encourage the wise use of their gifts and talents. A formal four year college education is not the goal of every child, but knowing what their opportunities are and how to reach them is something we begin teaching when they are very young.

The Cougar Center is the before and after care program that we run for our boys and girls in K-4th grades. Cougar Center operates 7:00-8:00 a.m. to 3:00-6:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. Other before/after care programs that serve our area include: St. Lukes, Happy Meadows, American Child Care, Little Hearts, Preston Taylor Ministries, Youth Life Learning Center and 61st Avenue UMC.
