The Metropolitan Nashville Public Schools announces a vacancy in the following position:

                                                                    LITERACY COACH 5-12

QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants must posses a valid Tennessee teaching license with endorsement in K-12 Reading, 7-12 English, or grades 5-8 and three (3) years in teaching experience.

RESPONSIBILITIES: The essential function of the literacy coach is to oversee the implementation of reading/literacy in 5-12 classrooms. The literacy coach serves as a reading instructional coach for teachers (approximately 70% of the time) and provides direct reading support to students with highest needs (approximately 30% of the time). The literacy coach also provides ongoing job-embedded professional development, models effective instructional reading strategies, and leads discussions in scientifically based reading research during team planning sessions and/or staff meetings. Successful candidates will have an understanding of the K-12 school environment and a strong commitment to educational improvement.

This position is eligible for Career Ladder.
