Background:  Paul Dowell was born in Nashville, Tennessee and attended public schools and George Peabody College for Teachers Demonstration School through high school, George Peabody College for Teachers (Ph. D., 1975), Middle Tennessee State College (B. S., 1965), Middle Tennessee State University (M. Ed., 1968), The University of Tennessee, Knoxville (counseling certification) and Trevecca University, Nashville, Tennessee (ESL certification), Temple University, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (management analysis certification). 

Paul Dowell has been a teacher of English Language Learners at both  high school and adult levels for more than twenty years.

Employment:  Paul Dowell has been a construction worker, factory worker, swimming instructor and lifeguard, farm worker, Michigan State Fair
roustabout, wheat harvest laborer, paint store operator, draftsman, teacher of languages, management analyst, college instructor and director of admissions at the college level.

Future plans:  Paul Dowell plans to retire from teaching only when forced to do so, as he loves his international students and teaching.  He plans to continue work and travel in southeast Asia in summers and someday live in the Pacific Rim, Thailand or Indochina areas.
