Surprisingly, the most profound thing I’ve learned in eighteen years of teaching is that “kids are people, too” with all the brains, emotions, and drama of the rest of us. I think that revelation helps me in my teaching more than any formal education. My father worked for the government and I lived all over the US. I call Indiana home and received my B.S. degree from Ball State University in Muncie. My husband and I moved to Nashville twenty-some years ago for a job and I’ve raised my daughter here. I received a Master’s degree in Reading at MTSU and my Plus 30 hours in a mixed bag of courses. I have been teaching English at Antioch High School for the last ten years and hope to do so for many more.
